The unique mini-videos collection of the Richard Wagner Webmuseum

An exclusive series, written and realized by Nicolas Crapanne,
chief editor of the website

This “series-collection” unpublished and designed expressly for our loyal readers and partners reveals rare moments of intimacy spent before the camera with the greatest Wagnerian performers of our time.
How did this passion for Richard Wagner’s music and the world come to him, as well as the works they perform every day on the biggest international opera stages? What was their career as a professional lyric singer and what were the milestones of their Wagnerian careers? What is their view of the work of this extraordinary composer, of whom they are the best performers? What anecdotes – more or less pleasant – do they have to tell us?

To the captivating stories of the “memories” and adventures of these extra-ordinary personalities of the contemporary operatic theater is added the explanation or the detail made by themselves of an element, a notion peculiar to the universe of the composer How do you have to “appropriate” the specificities of the Bayreuth Festspielhaus scene, and how is Wagner’s tetralogy booklet still relevant for the 21st century viewer? a “Heldentenor” or a “singer of character”? …) in order to penetrate in intimacy and better still make us understand this work so particular and out of the ordinary that is that of Richard Wagner.

The sculptor Cyprien Godebski married in 1865 in Belgium the Belgian Sophie Servais (1843-1872), daughter of the famous cellist and composer Adrien-François Servais and sister of the composer and conductor Franz Servais.
